Holiday Monday
Quiet morning, catching up on some chores. My dad did some garden tidying which is always welcome. He discovered an infestation of vine weevil in my primulas which explains why they have been a dead loss this year.
Zoomed down the coast to St Abbs this afternoon. Had a wander and a most delicious caramel shortbread in the café. BB had a hot chocolate and a chocolate tray bake and was then wired to the moon. We didn’t venture to the cliff path today. Last time we were there we got caught up in a coastguard rescue (not us - we were bystanders caught up in the middle of the action) and we have been spooked ever since as it wasn’t a positive outcome. Bumped into BB’s teacher from nursery – the lovely Penny. She had been along the cliffs.
Dragged my poor dad out for an evening walk around town and the river and spotted the swan sitting on its nest. We’ll have to keep an eye out for cygnets.
I am fascinated by this ramshackle corrugated iron shed at St Abbs. It is attached to the end of a stone building, but suspended in the air. It appears to be supported by a single stilt/pipe. It has an old worn sign about rabies stuck on the front. Every time we visit St Abbs I check that it is still there.
