Vain 2 kalaa.

The main reason why we came to Manndalen at Norway is this shown in this pic. There’s a two day icefishing competition at Kilpisjärvi, Finland called “Vain 2 kalaa” meaning “Only 2 fish”. It’s 29th time this competition is organized. The prices of the competition are astonishing: 2 snowmobiles ready on a trailer, 2 all-terrain vehicles ready on a trailer, iPads, iPhones, 50” HD Led 3D TV’s, boat and all kind of things on prices between 13720euros to 530euro. So also the amount of the participants is enormous, thousands of people come’s to the competition hoping to win all these prices.

I have been “dreaming” of change to get there many times, but always just thinking how nice it would be to get there, but never thinking for real to get a change to go there.
And why is that? Well, 1st the location is in Northern Finland so the distance between competition and me is 1177km. 2nd My uncle, whom I’ve been talking about this for many years, want’s to go there, but not 100% and he’s got problems with his back, so sitting on the car (from his location 673km) is too long time. 3rd Just have not never ever thought that it would be possible. But now, it turned possible! <3 And I’m so happy about it.

Why it’s called “Only 2 fish”? Well, the answer is quite simple: if you get 2 fish, you can be pretty sure you’ll gonna win!
And why is it so? Well, I don’t know. But the competition area is marked and it’s about size of 500m2 (?), so pretty small area to fish, and the fishes just don’t go on the hooks (mostly used people use “mormuska” of what I’ve posted in here). SO, when I twigged that it’s possible to me and Otto to go here this year, it was so near to the competition day, so every place to stay at Kilpisjärvi was full and the nearest free location was at Manndalen (about 80km from Kilpisjärvi).

Nobody got fish at today’s competition. Well, someone got one, but it was less than the permitted size so it didn’t count. Tomorrow a new chance =)
