Velvet

This Iris was given to me, unnamed, by a friend who still works in the Nursery where we met. I planted it last summer and what a beauty it is! The plant behind is Lovage, which I planted thinking it was Angelica and then was surprised when it survived the winter, Angelica dies after it flowers. Lovage tastes like celery and is a good flavouring in casseroles and soups.
