Liberation Day
Every year on the 4th of May we have two minutes of silence to memorize those who fell in the second world war and on the 5th of May we celebrate Liberation Day.
These festivities are celebrated in various manners but the main attraction is a big pop festival held in several mayor cities and artists that fly by army helicopter from one stage to another.
Haarlem is one of the biggest stages and gets TV coverage.
You guessed it… as this is also close to my home I was there too when the clock stroke five to five precisely as reminder of 05-05-1945 and this is what we got.
First a confetti shower followed by a lot of enormous balls being thrown into the audience.
At a certain stage people started to throw these mega balls against the TV camera man, who was - lets say - not really amused.

Ps. Cameras were forbidden, but the Sony QX10 was not recognized as a camera when they searched me at the entrance. Handy little gadget!
