After Olympia

A bit hidden, at the rear entrance of the CNIT this sculpture by Sir Anthony Alfred Caro (1924-2013) is located. It is in total 23 meters long and for sure worth a second visit in the future.

The sculpture was created in the mid 80's, inspired by his first visit to Greece. Before finding a new home here, this piece was also shown on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, at the Tate Gallery in London and the Trajan Markets in Rome.

There is a website here, explaining a bit about this sculpture (in the middle of the page), but also showing some other pieces. One statement about After Olympia:
"... Clearly you are not meant to stand far back from these sculptures of mine, they should be pushing on to you. That is why it is not monumental sculpture, but rather big intimate sculpture (1994)"
