Exploring the Ribble Valley countryside.

Paul and I enjoyed a couple of hours walking and exploring in Great Mitton and Clitheroe. The postcard collage I have put together, captures some of the places we discovered. It is a picturesque part of Ribble Valley and well worth a visit if you are visiting this area of Lancashire. They also have a Clitheroe Jazz Festival.
The medieval Church of All Hallows, had a car park full of cars, and we wondered if a Wedding or Christening was taking place.
There was an organ recital of First World War well loved music. The grave yard was fascinating and there were clearly many Easthams and Althams who attended the Church for several generations.
Next we climbed the steep steps to the Keep of Clitheroe Castle, which has been skilfully maintained over the years. There is a really well run museum, cafe and Art Gallery there as well.
The view across the town is remarkable on a clear day and you can see Pendle Hill and the surrounding countryside.
We strolled along the river, and saw herds of cows and sheep. I took a photo of Eddisford Bridge, which is very popular with people who enjoy a good picnic.
Children and dogs were paddling in the water and there was a wonderful Bank Holiday spirit.
The man who runs the model Railway was busy doing some running repairs and checks, as it will soon be starting up again for the Summer months.
My Grandsons will love it!
Have a lovely Bank Holiday Monday blipper friends.
