Not attractive . . . !

A nest of blackbirds in the hebe hedge - not the most attractive of babies! While we were away the hebe hedge pushed the garden wall down and in order to rebuild it we had to cut the hedge hard back. The blackbirds didn't seem to mind at all, carried on constructing their nest and have now got four little offspring in there! The nest seems to consist primarily of montbretia leaves . . .

The first real rain today for what seems like weeks so I spent the afternoon reading, knitting and watching the parent blackbirds bringing in beak fulls of worms to the young ones. The hedge is also home to 20+ sparrows, so together with the starlings, there was quite a lot going on!
