Then and now

It is an abysmal day today, so I thought it is quite appropriate to blip photos of the Catholic Cathedral of Christchurch as it was in its full glory before the Feb 2011 earthquake, and how it is now.

We were on a road trip to the South Island for two weeks, starting on Easter Sunday. We hit Christchurch on 22 April, and surprise surprise it was a bitterly cold and rainy day. The walk around Cathedral square was shocking. The last time I was there was Christmas 2009. I felt numb, walking among the desolate ruins.
