Put to the Test
I hurried to get the outdoor table stained before the forecasted rain, and left the awning out to shelter it overnight. It was good that I did because there was a heavy downpour. After the required 24-hour drying time had expired, I retracted the awning and left the table to the mercy of the elements. There was no mercy shown -- this is what the surface of the table looked like when I got up this morning. The beading of the water is an indication that the stain is doing a good job of sealing and protecting the wood.
It's raining hard again as I write this at 11:00 PM, and there's more forecast for the rest of the week. My timing was pretty good!
