All aboard
Today was the Northern Championships at Gummers Howe above Lake Windermere. Today was always going to be a challenge both physically and navigationally. The distance from the car park to the start was as long as my course!
Cagoules were compulsory as the mist was down and light rain pervaded the air. My concentration for once was good and I made only one error dropping down too low for one of the later controls. The finish was epic as we scrambled over felled and fallen trees. Pleased with my time and was astounded to find I was second, beating a number of rivals who consistently beat me.
So this evening some serious refuelling was on the cards as we paid a second visit to the Albion for our evening meal. This is rather an unusual but popular seat outside the restaurant overlooking the Kent estuary.
