Castle Street

Got up this morning to find more snow - and a lot of it! We do get a bit of snow around this time of year, but it is quite unusual to get it so often and for it to lie so long. No matter, went round to get the rolls for breakfast and caught this image on the way back.

I live in a small village of about 1000 people, if you include all the farms and outlying houses. So, most people speak to one another even if it is just to say "morning" on the way to pick up the Sunday papers. The community spirit is great, but it can turn a five minute job into a 20 minute excursion. Not a problem unless somebody else is burning the bacon while waiting on the bread!

Anyway, I loved the way one guy smiled at me while he spoke this morning and, with a huge grin on his face, said "fine day". I'm not sure if I liked the irony in his statement more than the childish delight he seemed to have in the appearance of the snow. I think I preferred the latter. I made my way home kicking the white stuff up in the air as I went. Who wants to grow up anyway!
