You Call This Food?

This male house finch wants no part of the sugar water meant for Zippy, my adopted pet Costas hummingbird.  The wife just looks on and stays.

They must be building a nest somewhere close because this pair is feeding here a lot.  They kind of sneak in. They aren't as noisy as the woodpeckers.  And  Zippy has distinctive sounds.

Mom wants to get me a small bird bath.  I wouldn't mind it.  The water would evaporate quickly but it would be nice for the birds, not only to drink from but also in which to cool off during the heat of the summer.  I have a hose right there.  I could fill it every day and wash it down when needed.  

Maybe it would attract a wider variety of birds to my yard.  I know they are in the neighborhood. I think it would be fun to have.  It would also give me something to do and maybe even give me some more photo opps - an added bonus.
