Kruger Park or 'Bust'

an anonymous artist put this Bust relief into the cobblestone in the Square next to the Oudekerk. This remains my favourite piece of art... Brave to call it my favourite I know. But it is nestled between the Oudekerk and the Red Light District reflecting Church's dirty past of selling Indulgences to visiting sailors. The city council initially removed it... But there was such an outcry they replaced it. Most people walk past it without noticing it. Or link it to the Red Light District. It speaks volumes more than simply nudity! It's an expression of conflict between the two poles of morality... While settling accusation towards the church rather than towards the trade. It is tasteful and discrete. There are times when I see it that I sense the victim hiding in shame in the bust, and other times I sense a discrete coyness in the pose.

I hope the blip doesn't offend anyone.
