The Rainbow Flowers......
...........so called after the messenger of the Olympian gods and Goddess of the Rainbow by the name of Iris.
These are the first of my Yellow Dutch Iris which opened this week - they seem to have multiplied well - one group sporting 15 buds.
There is a spring-planted Iris called "Superstition" and is the Black Beauty of Tall Bearded Irises!
It is one of the darkest hued tall bearded iris bulbs available; the flowers are a rich dark purple that is almost black, and it reaches 38 inches when planted in well-drained soil - sounds wonderful - must have a look round for it next year!
Also opening are a couple of Yellow and brown flag irises - these were given to me by a neighbour.
Anni has collected BlipBear and Kiwi - who are going to stay with her again until they set off once more on their journey to who knows where. BlipBear looked suitably sad to be leaving!
What a Saga to tell regarding the Heart Monitor I had fitted to me yesterday!! At about 6.00pm, one of the pads attached to the left side of my chest fell off. After a lot of fiddling about, I managed to stick it back on. Two hours later, it fell off again! Phoned the Hospital to report what had happened. Was connected to a female person - who was, I was told, a Doctor - with an almost non-understandable accent - who told me to come straight over! "What, I said you want me to drive a round trip of nearly 30 miles - in the dark - to have another one fitted? - All I want to do is to report what has happened" - "0h no, we can't fit another because that Dept is closed until Tuesday - (which I knew - Bank Holiday) - but you must come over now!" - "Why", said I "what is the point of me coming over if you can't fit another? - Silence - Then a Staff Nurse came on the line - I went through the story once again - and finally got some sense! "Yes" she said "take all the pads off and bring the unit back in on Tuesday and we will fit another" (which is what I was going to do anyway but just wanted someone to report to the relevant Dept what had happened.) So on either Tuesday or Wednesday I will make another journey to have another fitted and then another trip the day after to have the replacement removed!!! Am I missing something here or am I being incredibly stupid in my old age? Ah well.....................
