The recycling

When I moved into the new cottage, I found there were two small rooms off the kitchen. One was a toilet, which seemed horribly unhygienic, so that was immediately decommissioned and used as a store room. Amusingly, we call it "the looder" but we never store food in there.

The other small room contains the back door but is useless for anything, really, especially as it's not really water-tight. When I moved in, I decided to keep the recycling in there, so I put in my two plastic boxes, one for cardboard and one for plastic. But then I found that I didn't seem to have council bins for glass or tin, so I started to keep that recycling in there, too.

Well, for a while I kept on top of it, never taking the recycling to the collection point at Booths as often as I intended to, but doing it all the same. And then, some time just before Christmas, I reckon, I stopped. The boxes overflowed but I just put the recycling in that room, anyway. After a while, I was just tossing any recycling on top of the mound; any thoughts of organisation and sorting in anticipation of of a trip up to Booths were long gone. It reached waist height.

Today, I realised that there was only one way it was going to be sorted and that was for me to tackle it, so I did. Bit by bit, I took everything out of the room and put it into a box and bag, before moving it all out into the garden. Then I brought the car 'round, loaded it up and took it all to Booths.

It was only when I got home I remembered there was another full bin liner in the hall :-/
