Comfrey

Thank you all once again for elevating my moth to the spotlight page, I really am feeling so blessed.
It has been cold and quite miserable all day today, leaving me with not a lot to blip! Late afternoon I went for a drive down my favourite country lanes around Barnes Green which are looking really good at the moment, the verges bubbling and frothing with Cow parstly which cheered me up despite the weather.
As I was driving back home I remembered this little muddy pot-holed lay by at the back end of Christ Hospital school, which had a huge Comfrey plant growing beside the footpath leading from it. The comfrey plant was just coming into bloom, full of flower heads which are really interesting with flowers in blue and pink hues, and the succession of buds curled tightly waiting to open - perfect blip material.
Comfrey is the common name for plants in the genus Symphytum. It is a large perennial herb, locally frequent throughout Britain and Ireland on river banks and ditches.
It has many uses, and is prized by organic gardeners and and herbalists.
Hopefully it will be warmer tomorrow so I can go insect hunting again.....oh and let my moths go!
