Ancient beech

I was a few miles along the Caledonian Canal at Dochgrarroch today, looking for a bluebell wood. I think I found the right place, but there wasn't a flowering bluebell in sight. Too early, apparently. Still I saw this old beech tree, with broken branches, but still holding together. It must be absolutely ancient, a bit like myself.
