Lilac

We had a lilac bush out the front of our house that was getting throttled by a laurel that was taking over.

18 months ago I dug the whole lot out and we replanted the flower bed. We wanted another lilac but it proved quite hard to find one. The local garden centres told us there was a shortage and they were very expensive if you could find one.

Then we found a very sorry looking specimen in a garden centre 'reduced to clear' area. It looked a bit neglected but seemed quite sound with new growth so we bought it. A bit of TLC in its new position has worked wonders and it's now looking really healthy. It has rewarded us this year with a lovely display of flowers.
