Pounding the pavements
The weather today brought new meaning to this expression as the clouds emptied their contents! Dad arrived to help me fit M's wardrobe doors and had to sit in the car for ten minutes as it was too wet to venture out.
Fitting the wardrobe doors - mmm - a quick job you'd think??!! Well after about two hours of muscle wrenching and watching a video on YouTube - where the doors were popped in in about 30 seconds - we called my hubby home in his lunch hour to help with the weight of the doors. Every time we managed to fit the top in, we tried to put the wheels in at the bottom and the top would pop out! It was very frustrating! Even with hubby we couldn't do it so we stopped for dinner and went over to B&Q to make sure we were doing it right and to ask for some advice. We were doing the top part correct (as we could see from the doors that were already fitted there), which was reassuring, but the man there had never fitted them himself and couldn't really help. We went home and lowered the wheels at the bottom and 'hey presto!' success! One side did pop out again when I tried raise the wheels slightly (!!!) but when these were re-lowered, they have stayed in position. So, due to very poor instructions, a job that should have taken only about an hour from start to finish, took us nearly all day! Grrrrrrr!!
