Mayday

May Day is good for two reasons .

One, it celebrates workers' rights, which is good but a bit unexciting.

Two, it's a day for dressing up in bits of greenery, dancing at dawn, and performing all sorts of fertility rites , which sounds a lot more fun.

These Morris Dancers were doing their thing in Stratford on Avon by the Canal basin this afternoon, jingling their bells and bashing their sticks with great enthusiasm. The sun came out for them too.
