flood

we've been having non-stop rain for the past couple days. our back yard is the rain reservoir for our neighborhood. right behind the reservoir runs a creek. whenever it rains for any length of time, all the rain water in our neighborhood gathers in the reservoir in our back yard and then drains into the creek. most of the time, this works as it was designed. except when we get torrential downpours that last more than a day. then the reservoir fills up and makes me a little nervous. today it threatened to rise beyond the reservoir and into our basement. it's the highest it's ever been in the past 7 years we've lived here. i'm praying it doesn't get any higher :)
