Drunk on Pollen

Lately I've noticed many blossoms, in various stages of development, on the prickly pear cacti. I stood on tiptoe to look inside this bright yellow one, and saw two bees at the bottom of the flower cup. At first they didn't move, so I thought they were dead. Then they started stirring around, and got into better positions to photograph. They were so slow, I was sure they were in a drunken stupor from too much pollen. Anyway, I'm glad I looked--today the blossom was entirely gone.
