Boatman's Institution, Paddington, London

This building started life as a meeting place for boatman.

It's near the 'Paddington Basin' which was a major trans-shipment point for goods into London at the end of the Grand Junction Canal.

The Basin was also at the western end of New Road, built in the 1750s to allow cattle to be driven into the City of London. It's now called the Marylebone Road.

The Boatman's Institution is now a mult-million pound private house.
