Over the Horizon

Snow

Last night it snowed. A quite slow rain of snow flakes burst from the sky like a broken heart bleeding white.

A cold lonely blanket over the land and the tree boughs sagging shaggy with weight. This is the view from outside my room as a kid, looking down on the birds at the feeder flitting through the stillness below. Small dark shapes contrasting with the blinding white like something from a Haiku poem.

Numb silence muted in snow.
The birds animate my thoughts of you.
Scattered feelings in the air.
