Orchard
"Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with choice fruits, with henna and nard, nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree, with myrrh and aloes and all the finest spices." Song of Solomon 4:13-14
Today's picture is of an orchard (I am assuming an apple orchard) beside the canal. We were going to go for a bike ride again but it was too wet and windy, so instead we drove to the bridge where James wanted to see the trains and walked down the canal a bit for the steam train. This is where I saw the Orchard.
This Bible verse is from Song of Solomon, which is probably the hardest book in the Bible to interpret. There are various commentaries on the internet that have different ideas. The most sensible seems to be to take it literally that it is a love song from Solomon to his Bride. It is possible that by putting this book in the Bible God is giving us an idea of how a marriage should be, a man completely in love with his bride that he writes really descriptive things about her. I'll let you read for yourself the other ideas and come to your own conclusion....
