Death of a tree

Beautiful wander around Stourhead with a friend. As usual the sound of a chainsaw; we soon saw the reason for the noise. A huge tree, beech I think although didn't get that close for obvious reasons, had fallen in the last winds on Friday. The wind was blustery but the soil is still very wet and the trees seem to be toppling quite easily. This on fell in a pond, bit of a shock for the coots nesting in it! 2 arborists were working on it and think they will be doing the same tomorrow.
