The Port Of Felixstowe

This is the U.K's busiest container port, dealing with over 42% of the containerised trade. In 2011 it was ranked as one of the busiest in the world, when it handled
3.74 million 20ft equivalent units of traffic. Operated by Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company, it was set up in 1875. Nearby are the old fort and museum. From this port between 1940-45 the Royal Navy's Coastal Forces carried out vital operations launching torpedo boats and gun boats to protect the British shipping in the North sea and Channel, from the enemy naval force. Much of this dockland is owned by Trinity College Cambridge which surprised me !
It was rather misty as my daughter and I walked along the seafront after enjoying a tasty fish and chip lunch overlooking the sea. Then to finish off a lovely day out, a trip to the fine theatre in Ipswich to see the show 'Blood Brothers' which we both loved.
