Early Morning
The unaccustomed golden light creeping round the edge of the bedroom blind enticed me out with my camera just as the sun, having risen above Arthur's Seat, was glancing off the topmost leaves of the trees and the ground mist still hovered over the grass. In half an hour it had burned away and the 8am commuters would never have known what a lovely scene they had missed.
With blue skies and rising temperatures, His Lordship and I walked round Arthur's Seat with the gorse blazing yellow at the roadside and the cherry trees on Prestonfield golf course a bright pink against the fresh green manicured fairways.
Duddingston Loch beneath us sparkled in the sunshine and Dunsappie Loch looked like an infinity pool against the Firth of Forth background.
Arriving down at Holyrood we went into the Scottish parliament for a coffee in the café, nicknamed Margo's tea room after the newly departed MSP Margo MacDonald.
We had a quick tour of the debating chamber, and found it much more appealing than the building's exterior.
Home to sit outside for lunch. It's almost as if yesterday's chill never occurred.
