Hill Houses

This is part of a group of houses at Hill Houses, a hamlet near Hayfield in Derbyshire.

Houses on a hill what else would you call the place?

The attractive small hill beyond is called Mount Famine and is one of my favourites - photographed from every angle over the years.

I noticed on the news that there was talk of remaking or was it making new episodes of Dad's Army. When driving through Hayfield home I passed the house with a blue plaque on it for Arthur Lowe the actor who's most remembered part was the Bank Manager turned Home Guard captain lead in the programme.

I wonder what he would have thought about the other plaque I saw when back to the main road - it was a sign directing people to a new housing development called Mainwaring Gardens :-)
