A Year of Progress

This time last year I blipped a photograph of Steve's allotment - see here. One year on you can see how much progress he has made. There are now more raised beds, a greenhouse and a summer house. Today he treated Mum and I to a brew of tea on the new stove he has in the summer house and we sat on the decking outside the summer house and listened to all the bird song around us. We also admired the new owl box which has been put up in an adjoining garden - we are hopeful it will be used. I was then given a 'guided tour' of all all the things now planted - blackcurrant and gooseberry bushes and pear and apple trees, and many different veg.

My niece and newphew are having great fun visiting the allotment planting potatoes and parsnips and worm hunting. They enjoy ringing the big bell at the entrance to the allotment and shouting the 'secret' password which allows entry! I don't think any of us could have imaged what pleasure we would get from this special place.
