Rock Dove

When looking though the bathroom window I spotted a rock dove under the feeder, normally they take off at then slightest sound and todate impossible to capture. He stayed there long enough for me to hop off for the camera, return, find a comfortable position...... And so on.

He was withdrawing a very red coloured leg in this shot. We have five who regularly visit the other feeders for the crumbs also I have seen them sat out on the rock in the Loch, an aim is to capture them at some point on the rock using the larger lens once the walking action returns. (A while to go yet unfortunately). Apparently it is difficult to differentiate between male and female and have assumed this one is a male.

The wild rock dove is now found only along the north and west coasts of Scotland, on offshore islands, and on Northern Ireland coasts.
