Master of Bass
We had a rare treat here in the neighborhood, when Devin Hoff played bass. He is a consummate master of the instrument. Sometimes he used the bow, sometimes plucked, and occasionally he did both together. It was all his own improvised music, or original arrangements of old folk tunes or classical pieces.
Sometimes the music seemed vaguely like the score of a western film, or the soundtrack of one of Grimm's fairy tales, or the moans and cries of the chorus in a Greek tragedy. It was always powerful, usually very sad.
Bravo, Devin.
