A beastie...

..Crane fly.

I was happily minding my own business (in the bushes chez nous).
I had my lens trained on (I know, I know) a ladybird.
This said ladybird was sitting in the same position, on the same leaf, before I went away, and appears to be sitting upon and 'minding' some sort of (pink) 'woven-type' cache. I've seen the same thing in previous years and am still no wiser concerning its origin.
The ladybird is alive, but is clearly going nowhere.
(The last time I saw this, the poor ladybird died at its post).
I'll attempt further research.
(Who knew ladybirds could be so absorbing? Hands up).

Any road up, there I was, engrossed.
When suddenly, this MASSIVE beast hove into view through the lens.
As it was appearing many times more humongous than the ladybird, I confess to having emitted a small squeak.
('Small' enough (!) to bring Himself down (with some gusto) from his useful ladder, from whence he was employed (again) usefully, as opposed to oneself, clearing the highest gutter).

Interesting ladybird mounted upon pink stuff?
Or humongous (and weird close-up) crane fly?
...Or long-suffering (but hey! No heart attack) man??

Weird crane fly I guess?

Nice blue eyes though? :-/
