Moma Purple Finch

Dear Diary,

I finally spotted my Purple Finch's mate today. I can see why I had a hard time seeing her; she is so well camouflaged! This is quite common, of course, amongst bird species. The male is the colorful one and the female is more subdued.

Despite her subtle pattern and color, she has such a determined expression and strong presence. One needn't stand out in a crowd to have strength of character. Some of us are content to rest safely on the edges while others crave the spotlight. Both have their place in the world.
