Bluebells, nettles and cleavers

So glad to see the bluebells spreading from the hedge banks to the roadside verges. Cleavers, usually known as Goosegrass, because the young shoots of the plant used to be cut up and fed to geese, has a great growth spurt at this time of year and will be sticking to the fur of animals or people's clothes as they pass.

There was a stillborn calf in the night. This often happens at the start of the calving season but we have already had a premature one born dead. T, N and B take it in turns to check on the cows during the day and night. Herefords are very clever calving at a moment's notice when no one is around while some of them look as if they are imminent and then drop their young a few days later.
