Simply red, the Goth Weekend

For a weekend in the spring and autumn, Whitby becomes like a living film set, with the actors strolling everywhere. It's Whitby Goth Weekend, the spring one which apparently attracts more Steampunks than the autumn event.
Equally, swarms of photographers fill the streets, like an amateur paparazzi convention, so the whole place is buzzing.
The outfits are very often amazing to look at, and the Goths and Steampunks are kind and friendly to photo requests. Even the renowned photojournalist Martin Parr is busy making photos, for a forthcoming exhibition on Gothic culture, he told me as we had a short chat.
Back there again tomorrow, as I shoot a pull out for my former newspaper, staff turned freelance, but I'm looking forward to it!
