Trent College
Here we are again, (happy as can be, all good friends and jolly good company) as the old song goes. Actually it's quite true; I'm back at Trent College after 3 weeks for the second weekend on a UKCC Level 2 coaches course.
The 18 learners are very like old friends; they are all very different characters and some rear stars amongst them. They are indeed excellent company to be with.
The college chapel sits just round the corner from the sports hall and as I was leaving after today's session my eye caught a small plaque set into the wall. It recorded that Victoria Cross holder Albert Ball was a pupil at the college between 1913 and 1917.
I wonder how many of today's students would truly understand the nature of his sacrifice?
