Artist in Collioure
We had enough time in Montpellier this morning to soak up some more of the atmosphere in and around the wonderful Place de la Comédie before catching the train to continue on to our next port of call: Collioure, a small town near the Spanish border. We'd originally intended to spend time in Sête, but Carl chose Collioure instead because it looked quieter and smaller and more likely to be the spot for just lazing around. How right he was!
From the very first glimpse as we walked down from the railway station and turned onto the waterfront, the beauty of the place, its variety, and the nicely relaxed but not too quiet atmosphere struck us as ideal. The buzz was terrific, and the weather was wonderful as we walked along the promenade to our apartment. Coming across this painter was a nice little something extra to add to the overall impression. Our apartment turned out to be fantastic, in a perfect location and perfect in every way in terms of facilities and the efficiency of the owners.
The rest of the afternoon and evening were spent familiarising ourselves with Collioure and finding places to eat and drink. A great spot.
