Wispa
Saturday
I have mentioned my sister's Belgian Shepherd Wispa several times this week, so I decided she should take the spotlight one day. She is the fourth Belgian shepherd she has had, and for us at least, as normally somewhat irregular visitors, she seems the most sociable of the four. She is still a good guard dog, barking as soon as she hears the door bell or detects movement or sound outside, but once you're in the house, and she sees you are a friend, she almost immediately comes to get acquainted and soon after bring you her favorite toy, a rubber ring that she loves to play tug of war with. She never tires of it and always wins! Unfortunately she does chew on them as well, despite having a proper chew bone, and so they don't last very long! The previous dogs always took much longer to warm up to us.
Today has been a typical April day - sunshine and showers. My nephew, Andrew, joined us for breakfast, then Andrew, Wispa and I drove over to Queen's Wood to go for a walk, leaving Janet to do some gardening. It was sunny when we set out, and quite warm once we had been walking for a while. However, after a while the clouds gathered and we got quite wet. This shot was taken shortly before it started raining - Wispa's legs are wet because she had been paddling in a pond we passed! By the time we got back to the house it was bright sunshine again. This pattern continued for the rest of the day.
