Pharping

It is difficult to choose a single photograph for the 22nd April as it was a
full and fascinating day. We travelled to Pharping, south west of Kathmandu, to visit monasteries and special places of pilgrimage. On the way we visited Namkha Dri’mèd Rinpoche. He is a highly renowned Lama who does not often grant audiences, so we were most fortunate to be invited. He asked some penetrating questions and, seeming satisfied with our answers, told us about his Lineage. We then continued to Pharping and visited his magnificent monastery: Rigon Tashi Choeling.
We had hired a coach for the trip, and it was really too large for the
winding road up to Pharping. It is a sheer drop on one side of the narrow road
and there were moments when my heart was in my mouth as we pulled over to the edge to allow a large truck to squeeze past us. Pharping has grown considerably in recent years and there are now four major monasteries in the area.
We then climbed up to the Padmasambhava cave. It was a long and tiring day, but most inspiring.
