Craftswomanship
My mother, who will be 90 on Monday, recently made me this beautiful quilt. She buys 'remnants' from fabric shops - a cut off here, a cut off there, and she uses her father's old wooden measuring ruler - to create pieces of art. Her own father was an upholsterer and French polisher - a family of craftspeople.
My blip today salutes all craftspeople - those who create the everyday functional items and who make them visually beautiful - for the use and pleasure of others.
