Quod oculus meus videt

Chillington Avenue Mist

More foggy/misty conditions first thing this morning. I love the way that these conditions can make sense of dense woods. If this view were taken in clear conditions the intermingling of branches and trunks would put the brain into overload trying to make sense of the information in the image. The softening and gradation offered by the mist makes the foreground prokminent and stand out from the trees further into the wood.

I particularly chose this location as you may just be able to make out the balustrade in the distance in the light area of the scene. This is Chillington Bridge, which crosses the Shropshire Union Canal. Here the tree canopy is more open as the bridge is about 15 metres wide. It is certainly a very grand bridge.
