Protest in the Zocolo

The huge banner outside the government building in Oaxaca translates as 'No more murder in Yosonama'. From what I can gather this is a Native settlement and there is some dispute over land.

Our local guide explained that this protest is allowed by the government. Had it not been approved then the banner would have been removed swiftly.

I am informed that Oaxacan dictators are replaced every 6 years to keep everyone on their toes and that the communists responsible for the extensive graffiti dress like natives but date women from the US.
