So Long, Old Faithful

Car traded in. A little more emotional than I thought I would be but he's been with me through more than I realised.

I bought him almost exactly 10 years ago to start my teaching career as I figured I needed something more reliable than the little Metro I was driving at the time.

Through all the things he's helped me with in that time (including being the only car to get through a mud soaked car park at the end of a particularly saturated festival), the one memory I keep thinking of is the drive to my wedding (and the ribboned drive home with new wife).

I know it's daft but memories are often easily associated to objects (look at any memory techniques) and I wonder how many of the small things get lost when the physical association is disconnected. I guess the new car will bring with it, new memories and new associations.

My only real regret is that when anybody asks what happened to my old car, I won't be able to authentically use the movie reference:

- "I'm sorry baby, I had to crash that Honda."

Name the movie and I'll give you geek respect.

Smile
Rob
