Should I stay or should I go

Have you ever stood at the top of one of these things?
Flumes in a swimming pool.
Or at the top of a diving board or death slide, and said to yourself, Should I?"
Is it brave to just do it, or is it equally as brave to back off and admit you can't do it?
Admittedly, these aren't particular high or fierce, but the question remains.
