The Carpet Salesmen

A full day in conference so I had to snatch some blip possibilities between the hotel and the ICC. These three gentlemen stand outside the Old Registry (I think that is what it is) on broad street.

The larger than life statues depict William Murdoch James Watt and Matthew Boulton the three pioneers of the industrial revolution. Locally they are known as either the "golden boys" (for obvious reasons" the carpet salesmen nick name isn't clear from this shot, so I will explain. Between the three figure there is a large (presumably piece of paper) drooping from hand to hand. It doesn't take much imagination to visualise it as a scene where people are examining a carpet.

The statues were originally designed in 1938 but wasn't unveiled until 1956 having been produced by William Bloye.
