Gone!

Always sad to see a venerable old tree felled but I understand from Billy, keeper of the cricket green, that it was diseased and had become dangerous.

The 'X marks the spot' has been there for months and the council chappies cordoned it off on more than one occasion to no avail.

And now it is no more and I am very sad but strangely, already, the surrounding trees are filling the space. I expect the shrubs planted in the beds around it now will get a new lease of life and hopefully a young tree will be planted to replace it.

A beautiful morning here in Baildon and Roberts Park was looking at its best at 7am this morning. Now off to buy compost for mulching. Need to get the beds weeded and mulched before the WI gardening group visits in early May.
