This is Not Joshua Roman

The real Joshua Roman is inside the building, warming up, rosining his bow. Meanwhile, the Joshua Roman groupies (one of them pictured above while the other snaps this photo) stand outside the elegant Town Hall building, goofing around, walking off the delectable thin crust Margherita pizza, arugula salad, wine, and salted caramel gelato consumed across the street during Primo's Happy Hour.

Tonight's Town Hall Music Series performance featured Joshua Roman performing pieces from a broad and eclectic range of genres from as far back as the early 1700's, to as recent as 2012. He was accompanied on piano by Grammy-nominated Lithuanian pianist, Andrius Zlabys.

We arrived early and had excellent seats right up front. By the end of the evening, Joan, my fellow cello nerd, and I agreed that Mr. Roman could take any piece and spin magic into it. We were mesmerized by the ease with which he produced such rich, clear, succulent tones that breathed so much life into every note, whether that note was by Bach or Schnittke or Stravinsky.

It was pouring rain on our drive home, but we were filled with new inspiration as we chatted about the performance and our future music-making adventures.
