~EARTH DAY~
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.
It was Easter all over again for fourth-graders at Carl Cozier Elementary School.
But instead of bright plastic eggs full of candy, students searched the area around the school for trash as part of an Earth Day litter pick-up.
Students broke up into groups to collect trash using tongs, trash grabbers and rubber gloves. They rushed to snap up cups, cans, wrappers and even a pair of discarded sandals, gloating over their finds.
"It's kind of like an Easter egg hunt, I guess, but with trash," my niece Madisun said.
Instead of helping the kids I went to one of the local parks and snapped this picture to show case Mother nature.
