Get away!!!
It often seems that the smallest birds in the yard are the one with the biggest attitudes. That is certainly the case with the goldfinches who are constantly bickering among themselves and, as seen here, are not afraid to mix it up with their larger cousins, the house finches. The goldfinches are nearly done with their spring transformation into breeding plumage - leaving behind their dull winter wardrobe for a their brilliant summer frocks. They won't breed until late in the summer, coinciding with the time when the thistles go to seed, but they are all decked out just the same.
I painted a section of the deck this morning - tedious work. I am currently painting all the deck rails and supports - painstaking, slow work. My hands are killing me, a sign that it was time to stop for the day. Quick trip out to get a couple of new paintbrushes then back home to pack some boxes.
Hubs was up at 2:30 this morning to get to the airport for a 6 am flight to St. Pete for a meeting with his new company - he's booked on a return flight tonight, but won't be home until late. Long day for him.
I sent a query out to my favorite insect website, www.whatsThatBug.com and am waiting to see if they can shed any light on the curious bee behavior from yesterday. Loads of bees out at the cherry trees again today, but I've not had time to see if there are any more strange goings-on with them.
Happy Tuesday. people...
